Pharmacy : Saving Lifes With Correct Medicine


Pharmacy deals with the preparation of medicine and anybody who takes career in the preparation of medicine is called a Druggist or Pharmacist. His chief duty included filling and compiling prescriptions. These prescriptions involve the directions, which are written on the label for the patient as well as instructions. Pharmacist is the only authorized person to sell poison and narcotics some of which may be sold only on prescription.
 Pharmacists ensure safe and quality use of medicines and optimize health outcomes by contributing to selecting, prescribing, monitoring and evaluating medicine therapy and researching, testing and developing pharmaceuticals and medical products. A registered pharmacist must be a graduate of an accredited university.
Among other things, a Pharmacist perform the following roles;
      
Receiving prescriptions, checking patients medicine history, and ensure drug compatibility before dispensing.
       Preparing and supervising the preparing and labeling of liquid medicine, ointments, powders, tablets and other medications to to fill prescription.
       Supervising and coordinating the work of pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy sales assistance.
       Conferring with chemists, Engineering professionals and other professionals about manufacturing techniques and ingredients
       Developing standards for drugs used in pharmaceuticals.

NOTE
Pharmacy is a course of study in the faculty of medical/ Pharmaceutical Sciences. Duration of the programme is five years with the Honours degree Award of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm).
